Break Glass In Case Of PML

One of my big complaints after attending the FDA advisory board public
hearing on Tysabri was the total lack of discussion on what do you do if
(when?) someone else gets PML (progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy)
when on Tysabri.

TRENTON -- Colleen O'Dell-Multer has multiple sclerosis. She's also legally
blind, needs a wheelchair, and has a speech impediment. But she doesn't back
down to anyone and is helping lead a charge.

THE husband of a multiple sclerosis sufferer, who won the support of the Prime
Minister's wife in a battle to stop Wiltshire County Council cutting her care,
was a guest of honour at 10 Downing Street yesterday.

The MS Society and the local MS group would like to thank Kevin Ericson of the
Copper Country Mall and Developers Diversified Realty for their dedication to
the fight against multiple sclerosis and for all of those who contributed to
local folks with MS by purchasing a wrist band which is meant to spread the
message of hope.

Our presenter is neurologist James D. Bowen, MD, Medical
Director of the Evergreen HealthCare MS Center in Kirkland,
Washington. Prior to joining the MS Center in June 2006, Dr.
Bowen served as director of neurology services for the Western
Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Center at the University of
Washington Medical Center. Dr. Bowen received his bachelor of
science degree in chemistry from Eastern New Mexico University
and his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School
of Medicine. He completed residencies in internal medicine and
neurology at the University of Washington. He is board certified
in neurology, and has taught in the departments of both
Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Bowen is involved in
several organizations, including the American Academy of
Neurology. He has served on the Clinical Advisory Committee of
the Greater Washington Chapter of the National Multiple
Sclerosis Society for many years, and has chaired the committee
since 1999. He was inducted into the National MS Society 2005
Volunteer Hall of Fame in the Health Professional and
Researchers category for his contributions as a volunteer.
