In September we Celebrate Five Years!

By Car (Carolyn Reynolds)

How can it possibly be? Where does time go? You know, when I take a little time and look at where we have been in the magazine, our journey can really be seen as phenomenal!  Who could have guessed?

I also like to use September to do an assessment, to take a look and see if the magazine is still what I wanted it to be from the very beginning.  So I'll ask my readers and writers to help me to do that as we celebrate our fifth anniversary with this issue!

As we went online with our very first issue, the September/October issue, 1999, in my mind and also on the pages as I wrote for the magazine, I wanted MS MuSings to be a soft place to land.  Those of us with MS, many of us, really know about landing soft, in so very many ways. Sometimes it is the literal sense, because unfortunately sometimes falls go along with the onset and progression of this MonSter.

At other times that landing comes as a result of changing paths. In my own case I had to do a real about face on my path.   I could no longer be physically dependable enough to teach in a classroom and that just about killed me. I needed a soft place to land, and instead I found some terrific people who helped see me through those tough days.  Most of those kind folks are still here writing and supporting our efforts each month!

One definite finding for me in this journey with MS has been the caliber of people I've found. Maybe there are some real dummies out there with MS, but trust me, I've sure not found even one. Instead I've found people who are intelligent and knowledgeable about so many things, and willing to share themselves every month in our MuSings

Won't you help us celebrate our 5 years online in the September issue? Perhaps you could just tell about  how you came to write in MS MuSings, or about what writing has done for you.  I always say it's the cheapest kind of therapy, and I know for a fact it gets me through many of those rough spots.

So the theme for September is In Celebration of Five Years! Thanks again to all of you who help me keep this happening every month.
