Real Life Stories

  Hi you guys,
I know most of you already know this about Bush's lack of support (or worse) for disability issues.  I thought I would send it to you though in the hopes that you might tell others who might not know about this situation.  Maybe some of you will even send in some stories for that special report.
Once again, don't forget to let me know if you don't want my political emails.  (I'm still campaigning for Howard Dean.  I know he's having some problems, but I still think he's the best man for the job of unseating Bush.)

It's Up to You to Set the Record Straight

Dear Julie Turner,

George W. Bush pledged to create "new freedom" in the lives of Americans with disabilities. Instead, he has:

  • Gutted the enforcement of the Americans With Disabilities Act.
  • Nominated judges who oppose the civil rights of people with disabilities.
  • Failed to adequately fund special education.
  • Left children with disabilities behind in his "No Child Left Behind Act."
  • Proposed legislation that would destroy Medicaid.
  • Signed a Medicare prescription drug bill that will not meet the needs of people with disabilities.
  • Underfunded domestic programs that facilitate the employment of people with disabilities.
  • Refused to address the escalating costs of health care for all Americans.

Hold President Bush accountable for his misleading rhetoric. Tell us your story about how you, your family, or others you know have felt the sting of these Bush policies.

Click here to tell us your story and we'll publish a compilation of the best ones on the web in a special report on what George W. Bush's reckless policies have really done to Americans with disabilities.

We'll publish the stories anonymously and share them with Democratic leaders in Congress, the public and the press to set the record straight. Send your story now!

And be sure to click here to tell your friends to tell their stories!

Sincerely,

Becky Ogle
Director, Disability Outreach
