Moving Ahead to March
By Car (Carolyn Reynolds)
Are you feeling sad about leaving behind Valentine's Day and all the hearts and flowers? Or maybe you'd just as soon not think about romance and love and all of that stuff. Please know, anytime you want to speak your mind about your love life or lack there of, what you have to say is always welcome. Don't ever feel so tied to a theme that you can't write about anything else. I have always wanted the magazine to be a place where you can have a say about whatever you'd like to talk about. A soft place to land for MSers is my goal each month.
I've been in and out of the games and board at The World of MS MuSings this month and have seen some messages from and about those who are newly diagnosed. Sometimes I fear we are forgetting these folks, and that makes me look back at the dismal and lonely time when I was newly diagnosed. Like most all of you reading this, I have found the courage to go on day after day. Perhaps we need to revisit this topic and do it as a theme. I know we have before, but let's do it again. Sometimes just hearing that another is coping can get a new person to our MS life through, and goodness knows we all need a little help from time to time.
Let's call the theme for March Inspirations. What inspires you to go on with life, to put one foot in front of the other and just keep going, or perhaps to make your life better than it ever was before MS? I'd hope to see that variety of articles I've come to expect from our writers. This one can go in all sorts of directions. Perhaps it'll be about one particular person or one event that inspired you. Or maybe it's your faith and the way it sustains you through dealing with this chronic illness. Don't be afraid to give your fears a voice in what you write. I think it's important to let others know that we are not made of granite, that we do hurt and that hurt is very real. But it's also important to let each other see that we find our own paths through this jungle and we come out the better for the journey.
I'm really looking forward to reading what comes in for March! I love the continued surprises and inspirations that I have the privilege of reading as they come in for the next issue. Thanks, friends, for keeping me going, because YOU are my inspirations, and YOU keep me going month to month!
From this little family here online to anyone new coming to read, we all wish you Happy Valentine's Day. We hope it brings you all the love and romance you so much deserve to have in your lives.
Thinking of writing yourself? Please see some suggestions for making it easier for you and for me on our Who's in Issue Page. All you need to do is write me and I'll be glad to help you get started!
