Poem

Pleasant Valley

By annnieM (Deanna Mattox)

Wasn't all so pleasant
This August 4th-11th

BIKE WEEK rumbled in
(But I'm 5 miles out of town)
Always been no noise here!

Yet last night
I was kept awake
Roar of cycles going
Up our peaceful gravel road
(What happened to bikers not liking gravel?)
The neighbors set up a
Campground for their friends,
That's what happened

So this afternoon
I took perverse pleasure
In the downpour soaking them
I grabbed a window seat to watch
Wet bikers scrambling for
Raingear
Wet bikers getting wetter
And I felt a tad guilty
When it hailed
And I smiled

~

I'm certain the lack of sleep made me this petty and vindictive…

forgive me bikers.
