A Holiday Plug for Our People By Car aka Carolyn Reynolds Welcome to our third Holiday Issue! Yes, we really have been around that long, though it's hard for me to believe. Three holiday seasons finding out about how various MSers celebrate, enjoy their families and friends, shop, carry on life. That's a refreshing breath of air for me. I need to know, as I myself battle this MonSter, that others are living their lives fully and making a difference by being part of this world. I make this point by telling you some facts I've come to know about some of our contributors. Some are still working full time in spite of their MS, at least one is a full time college student with a family too. One has founded a brand new Multiple Sclerosis organization that is fully tax deductible for donations and carries on a Donor Closet so people with MS and other debilitating illnesses can get the equipment they need, and there are also other outreaches from this organization. In addition to all of this, he also writes a regular column in his city's newspaper about MS. Another works in a governmental office in Washington, D.C. and is working with the news media there to get the capital city more handicap accessible. Yet another has written for an international newspaper in support of the technology that makes life easier for those of us with disabilities, as well as keeping a website with lots of information on disabilities. In addition, he is also a published science fiction writer. Another holds an elected position in his city's council. One has recently had an article published in Guide Posts, another has signed a contract to have a book published, and a third will soon have a poem published in a book of poetry. Another wrote a poem for Montel Williams' poetry contest. Several of our writers also have material appearing in other online publications. Several are trying to get material published, others are writing and hoping to do that in the future. One is working with an outreach ministry for people with chronic illness and pain as well as having his own Christian outreach website. Many are active with MS projects as well. Two are looking into the possibility of getting some housing going that would be good for people with MS in two major metropolitan centers in the US, at least two have their own websites to highlight what they have written. What a group of people! Do these folks sound DIS abled to you? I think not! If anything, they have been EN abled through their dealings with MS. More power to us all! On behalf of all of us with MS MuSings, happy holidays to you and yours. We hope for the best the season can bring your way, happiness and many memories to have forever. Enjoy!
