Ah, Exercise!

By Car (Carolyn Reynolds)

If you haven't yet visited and joined the World of MS MuSings, you're missing a fun message board, and an occasional chat with many of the folks you find here, and a few that have yet to write something for the magazine. But I have great faith that more will be coming on with us in MS MuSing with this next topic for a theme!

That's because the topic of Exercise has been discussed on the board at the World of MS MuSings!  Some of those who were doing the talking thought it would make a good theme topic, and I agree.  Thanks especially to Pincushion and Hawk!

When I was first dxed, in 1997, the feeling was certainly mixed about exercise for those with MS.  I even specifically asked my neurologist at that time, and he said a resounding "NO!"  But after my first hospitalization, I did get some physical therapy and embarked on a regular series of exercises at that time, whenever I can, I do.  More to follow. . . . in the June issue!

So, what do you do to exercise? Did you get any physical therapy to aid you in this, or has it been on your own?  Any suggestions for someone who might be wondering about exercise and/or Physical Therapy?  I know there are some great stories out there needing to be shared, so I'm counting on you again!

Again, with this next issue, let's help one another, and someone maybe newly diagnosed, through this ever-changing maze that MS becomes for us. Maybe you won't be able to do what another does, but then again, maybe you will! Or maybe you'll be inspired to talk it over with your own doctor, which should be done anyway before you embark on any kind of "treatment" for your own MS.

I have great confidence that the upcoming June issue will be filled with lots to read about exercise and MS!  You never have let me down, and I know you won't now!

Thanks again, my faithful writers, and welcome to anyone new who'd like to have a say!
