Real Life Stories

From Sherry Kersey

Veterans Hospital - Poplar Bluff, Missouri

Recently my hubby of 43 years became ill with what
we thought was flu ... after doctoring for 3 days with no change
other than worse, he finally decided to visit the hospital in the bluff.

While we very seldom use med facilities nor waste taxpayers monies,
we were grateful to have that hospital close by, still with all the news in past year about vets hospitals, we were apprehensive to say the least.

As it turned out, he had not the flu but rather bronchial infection bordering pneumonia....and a very very sick gent was he.
As he entered the hospital, he was told there would be a wait, but he was so ill could barely hold up his head....

Even though these doctors had never dealt with my hubby, they were kind, courteous, and respectful, as was everyone in that waiting room, for he was taken first, ex-rayed , given one of the bitterest` pills in life to swallow with doctors speech, when he told hubby, you are No Longer in your 20`s 30`s or 40`s, and you can no longer ignore pain as you did in younger years.....

He then sent him home to recoup, and a mighty slow process it has been,,,,,by putting off that trip to cares embrace.

Seems the news can expound on all the flaws of some military hospitals, but how often do you read of the compassion shown in hospitals around the country .... that share both their expertise as well as human compassion....as well as those veterans waiting their turn for care?

As for me and mine, we thought we were going to lose him, and think we got mighty close.....and have much gratitude flowing for that veterans hospital in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Proving once again "United We Stand - Divided We Fall!
"God Bless `All The Military!
