Hugs, Hope, and Peanut Butter Butter

By Marsha Jordan

And here's a press release about the book:

Marsha Jordan is a tell-it-like-it-is kind of lady, undiscovered shower singer, and zany author whose sense of humor just won't quit.  This ten year old kid trapped in a grandmother's body began her writing career on the walls of St. Joseph's Catholic School, but now her inspirational essays are published in her book, HUGS, HOPE, and PEANUT BUTTER: Finding Light Behind the Clouds.

With it's laugh-till-you-fall-out-of-your-chair stories, taken right from the author's roller coaster life, this is a book to help you through the storms of life. It received rave reviews, honorable mention in the World's Funniest Humor Contest, and  Parent to Parent's "Best of the Best" award. But the greatest honor came in the form of a hand-written note of praise from the legendary Phyllis Diller

HUGS, HOPE, and PEANUT BUTTER is a collection of candid "slice-of-life" stories, written in Erma Bombeck style.  With heart touching nuggets of wisdom woven into each essay, the uplifting book combines hope with the healing power of laughter in hilarious accounts of everyday happenings from car accidents, dealing with in-laws, and a day in the emergency room, to wild bears, pet pigs, and aging without grace.  You can kick off your shoes and laugh your socks off with such chapter titles as "Limburger Attitude," "My Next Husband Will Be Normal" and "Life in the Manure Pile." And here’s one that every computer owner can relate to: “Computers, Dynamite, and Sledge Hammers.”  Jordan also recounts such escapades as her camping adventures, her search for the perfect purse, and a horrifying experience with a new magnifying mirror.

Hugs, Hope, and Peanut Butter has been called riotously funny and "un-put-down-able," but it has a more serious side too.  Written from the author's own experience of having a son with cancer, being unexpectedly struck blind, and living with chronic fatigue and pain, the book addresses some tough subjects like why bad things happen to good people and how to battle depression.  It answers such questions as “What Are You Worth?”; “Is Broccoli Hazardous?” and “What Did I Do To Deserve This? The author shares valuable coping skills she's learned through hassles and heartaches. Some readers claim that after reading the book, they can pull a freight train with their teeth -- or at least they feel like they could.

If laughter is the best medicine, Hugs, Hope, and Peanut Butter is the pharmacy to dispense it.  This wonderful mix of the serious and the silly will lift the spirits and warm the heart. Reviewer Lynn Chapman says the book is humorous encouragement for "anyone who has ever been discouraged, disappointed, or just plain tired and in need of a laughter break."  Isn't that EVERYone?

What makes this book unique is that it's dedicated to young cancer victims who lost their battles to the deadly disease; and it's illustrated with over 40 drawings created by seriously ill children.  Jordan came to know the kids through a nonprofit charity she created after her grandson was badly burned.  Through her HUGS and HOPE Foundation (www.hugsandhope.org) she's devoted to creating smiles for sick and injured kids who often have little to smile about. Best of all, book profits benefit the kids served by this organization.

Overcome discouragement, laugh out loud, and help sick kids at the same time?  With Hugs, Hope and Peanut Butter, you can do all three!

Jordan, who's been featured in several national magazines and television shows, tries to help readers rise above their pain to see the funny side of life and emerge with a stronger faith, more joy, and greater peace of mind – in spite of circumstances.  She's known as the "Peanut Butter Queen" because she firmly believes hope, joy, and love are "sticky" like peanut butter – when you spread them around, you’re sure to get some on yourself.
