My Inspiration, My Daughter

By Dianne Fox  Ó 2004

The Lord allows each of us to go through certain trials for a reason. We may not know what the reason is while we are going through a trial, but our job is to hold fast to what we know to be truth and to trust the Father.  That is where this true story begins.

It was during an election year and my oldest daughter, Dana, was pushing everyone to vote their conscious in the presidential election. Dana has the biggest heart there ever was and loves the Lord immensely.   Anyway, she received an absentee ballot and voted. However on Election Day Dana wanted to make sure her vote was received.  She drove to the polling area and asked one of the ladies if they showed her voting. They found her husband had voted but not her. Dana asked if she would get into trouble if she voted there. The lady said oh no because they would catch it if the absentee ballot came in.

Well, a few days later two FBI agents showed up at her front door with a warrant.  It seems the head commissioner of that action (voting twice) jumped at the chance to make an example of her. She tried to explain that it was not her intention to do that and she wasn't allowed to call the lady to court to testify that Dana had asked her if she was sure she wouldn't get arrested. To boil it quickly down, Dana had to be fingerprinted, picture taken and was taken to jail, it turned for about an hour.

She was scared to death, but knew the Lord was with her. When she arrived at the cell there was another lady already in jail. Dana started to talk to her about Jesus and found the lady was not saved. When Dana left, the lady not only knew about Jesus, she had accepted him as her savior. The court released Dana but she had to do community service for 6 weeks, and not be allowed to absentee vote for 3 years.

Dana and her husband were ministers to the young people's group at church and they were putting together a city wide fair in which there was a tent revival.  It seems that was counted as her community service. This is why I said the Lord might allow us to be put into situations for a reason. This reason was to save one soul.

This happened in the Mt. Shasta, Calif. area.
